It Had to Be You
Sorry for the epic hiatus, but I got a good one for you all today.
Back in college, Tara and I would go on rom-com binges. Still despite the binges, When Harry Met Sally... remains one canonical movie that I have never seen all of in one sitting. This is a sad truth, since I think there are some liberating elements of the gender politics in the film, despite the typical conservative and heteronormative stance that is typical of many films in this genre.
Sidenote: I'm also trying to get back on my academic writing grind, as you can tell ;)
It's also sad that I haven't seen the movie in one whole sitting, because it's a favorite of many, including Tara Jean, and it deals with very relevant issues in most twentysomethings' lives, such as brief encounters, friendships, romance, general love life stuff in adult life after college, sexual fulfillment, finding your soulmate (if you believe in that sort of thing), and more specifically, the shift from Chicago to New York, midwest to east coast, well in my case it's reversed, but I'm going to experience both.
With all this said, I'm not going to share a pic of Meg or Billy, but draw your attention to the fabulous soundtrack of the movie, with amazing covers mostly done by this man.
Yes, it's Harry Connick Jr., whose talent apparently dwarfs his own medium, and thanks to my Frank Sinatra Pandora station, I was able to recall a memory of watching this video with Ms. Tara in our Westco 2 dorm room.
But is my trip down memory lane to get us to Harry really relevant? I mean is he SASSY? Well, I would say that his over-gelled hair is aspiring for some kind of sassy smooth look, but if you want more evidence.
Oh snap! Didn't you miss us?
